In order to qualify for the ballot in August all candidates must either, pay a filing fee or collect 1% of all the registered and active voters in the last general election. That equates to either collecting 3,269 signatures from voters regardless of party affiliation, or paying $5,011.38 where Anita is concerned.

The challenge of collecting these signatures has been a tremendous OPPORTUNITY to meet people from all over the county and hear their concerns. We've got petitions in beauty parlors and barber shops, grocery stores, and of course, lots volunteers talking to their neighbors!
